ASHGABAT, TURKMENISTAN – UNICON shortlisted for European Commission funded technical assistance on Further Improvement of Quality and Relevance of Professional Education in Turkmenistan.
The purpose of the project is to provide technical assistance and policy advice to various stakeholders in Turkmenistan to develop human resources and related policies through analyzing current and future skills needs in the selected economic sectors, developing new standards, curricula and training programs, creating a basis for VET qualifications, establishing relevant quality procedures for the VET system and facilitating the development of policy options aimed at widening equal access to VET and lifelong learning
The need to improve the international legal services standards and administrative staff training is an immediate priority recognized by the Government of Turkmenistan. The current development of the countries' regulatory framework is restricted also due to the lack of professional capacity in the sector.
The results to be achieved are the following:
Component I "VET Planning and Strategy":
- Skills development strategy, based on the results of current and future skills needs assessment, designed by local stakeholders;
- Common coordination system and mechanism overseeing all vocational schools and involving key stakeholders, introduced.
Component II "VET Content":
- At least 10 qualifications profiles related to the pilot sectors, designed in cooperation with all relevant stakeholders;
- A model for national VET qualifications, created and professionals trained to replicate it in other sectors.
Component III "VET Teacher and School Management Training":
- Modern teaching and learning methodologies developed and applied in pilot VET schools;
- New requirements for VET teacher education and mechanisms for scaling up the results of the pilot schools, identified.
Component IV "VET Quality Assurance System":
- Quality assurance procedures for vocational education and training, established and introduced;
- Quality monitoring system for vocational education and training designed and applied.
